Most N/S pairs ended up in 4 spades with a great fit but a minority of points. Against best defence you can only make 8 tricks: 5 trumps plus three ruffs. (E/W can make 5 clubs if they are allowed to bid it).

However, let's assume that W leads something other than a diamond, which is likely. You win in S and lead a low diamond. Seeing the singleton Q, W cannot resist going up with the K, and E is unlikely to overtake.

Now you can make the contract. Ruff out the Ace of diamonds, make the Jack of diamonds discarding a club. Cross ruff the hearts and diamonds getting to this position:



Now you lead your last diamond, allowing W to win. W is forced to lead away from the Ace of clubs, giving you the contract.

We did not find this line by the way - but three pairs did make 10 or 11 tricks so well done to them.

Board 16 was different on the printed sheet vs the actual cards. I've amended this to be roughly correct but it is not 100%. This does not affect the scores.
